MARTINE JANSEN
PAINTING

"I am sensitive to impressions in my surroundings. For example, the colors of morning light can be very inspiring. There are so many nuances in the light.

I find that very moving."

"For my graphic drawings, I use pastel crayons. The soft texture of this material slows down the process. I apply layer upon layer, grind the chalk and blend the colors with a brush. It is a technique that has become my own and allows me to work both soft and hard in my compositions."

"For my collages I paint large sheets of paper that I cut and rearrange into a new composition. The painting is wild and restless, the collage often calm and balanced."
